Would you like some free printing for your charity or not for profit organisation? How about going one better and actually raising money using high quality printing?
My name is Mark Orr and when I set up The Printing & Mailing Company in 2001, one of my most important founding principles was to do something charitable every single month. I am very proud to say that I have maintained that principle without fail for 12 years.
As a small company I cannot afford to give away huge amounts of high quality printing. However, there is more than one way I can help you with higher value jobs.
A great example is Hula, The Home for Unwanted and Lost Animals based in Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire. They wanted a high quality calendar with great pictures and stories for each month. They also wanted to sell this calendar so it had to be good but they couldn’t afford to risk that much money.
I helped Hula by helping them find sponsors for each month and the front cover. I did this both by asking my business contacts if they wanted to sponsor a month and by adding an incentive to encourage more sponsors.
That incentive was my 10% cashback certificate for every sponsor. This works by me giving a certificate to every paying sponsor entitling them to 10% cashback on every single print order I do for them until they have recovered all of their sponsorship costs. This money comes from me, not the charity.
So, as an easy example, if they paid £100 for their sponsorship, they would keep getting money back from me on all orders until the whole £100 was recovered. This means that they only have to spend £1,000 to end up with FREE sponsorship.
I also guarantee they will get their money back. The 10% cashback certificate is not time limited so no matter how long it takes to order their print I will keep giving them 10% cash back until they have been repaid in full. The certificate is also easily transferable so if the sponsor doesn’t buy much print they can introduce me to somebody else who does and I will give them 10% cashback on their work until they are repaid in full. This is also a personal guarantee so even if my company is no longer trading I will personally pay back the money from future orders I produce for the sponsor.
What did this mean for Hula? Firstly, they sold out and were actually oversubscribed. Two companies who wanted to sponsor a month were too late so next year they can ask for a little more money. The best bit was they had the cost of the high quality calendar covered before they took the risk of buying it so there was no risk at all. Lastly of course, all of the sales proceeds from the calendar are complete profit which has raised thousands of pounds.
I have used this 10% cashback scheme several times including for a very high end programme for a charity Rock Concert, shopping list for a Food Bank and a school fete. The school fete programme made £2,500 profit.
